Farm Experiences

Fields on West Lake video footage from CTV News

The school tour season has ended along with our maze.  We had over 10 school groups through where young visitors to the farm visited our corn maze, picked apples and pumpkins and of course played with our sheep.

Our three lambs spent the summer entertaining wedding guests and numerous young people who have been able to hand-feed them grass and other green nibbles.  Next summer we will have more sheep - in fact we hope to have about 10 of them...the more the merrier as they say.

Our apples are packed away and the remaining pumpkins are going to seed in the fence rows. Our maze closed November 1st and although we expected it will be combined by now, moisture levels in corn across the County are running too high (around 30%) to allow for economical harvesting yet - we need a week or two of cold dry air. So the series of concentric circles we used as our design -  like radio waves emanating from the cell phone tower located in the centre is still visible if you happen to be flying over in a plane.  There is a photo on our corn maze website - so you can see what we did for 2009 - wait til you see what we have planned for 2010!

So thank you if you visited us and best wishes - of course you are welcome to visit us at anytime - to take a walk on our trails  - or the Millennium trail which courses its way through or farm...or perhaps you simply want to settle into a simpler way of life on the farm - like what we try to do this time of year on Sunday afternoons...nothing.
